In a shocking incident, several rounds were fired at comedian Kapil Sharma's newly-opened eatery, Kap's Cafe, in Canada, on Thursday. The cafe management has now issued an official statement, condemning the violence and promising to not give up.

A statement issued by Kap's Cafe on its social media page read, "We opened Kap’s Cafe with hopes of bringing warmth, community, and joy through delicious coffee and friendly conversation. To have violence intersect with that dream is heartbreaking. We are processing this shock but we are not giving up (sic)."

It further stated, "Your kind words, prayers, and memories shared via DM mean more than you know. This cafe exists because of your belief in what we’re building together. Let’s stand firm against violence and ensure Kap’s Cafe remains a place of warmth and community. From all of us at Kap’s Cafe, thank you and see you soon, under better skies (sic)."

Meanwhile, Kapil is yet to address the incident personally.

About Kap's Cafe firing

Kapil's Kap's Cafe opened its doors to the public only a week ago in Canada's Surrey, but around 1 am on July 9, multiple rounds were fired at the cafe. Khalistani terrorist Harjeet Singh Laddi claimed the responsibility for the shooting, and demanded an apology from Kapil for his alleged objectionable remarks.

A video of the incident went viral online in which the assailant can be seen shooting indiscriminately at the eatery's exterior from a car, before fleeing the scene.

While no customers were present in the cafe at the time, the attack has caused damage to the property, as well as the restaurant's reputation.

Attacks on Punjabi artists

This is not the first time that a Punjabi artist has been attacked in Canada. Back in September 2024, shots were fired at singer-rapper AP Dhillon's house in Vancouver, Canada. A 25-year-old man named Abjeet Kingra was arrested in the incident.

In November 2023, a firing incident was reported outside Punjabi singer and actor, Gippy Grewal's house in Vancouver. Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, the man behind the murder of Sidhu Moosewala, had claimed responsibility for the attack.
