Anuppur (Madhya Pradesh): As many as five people died and three were injured after a speeding Scorpio rammed into a bike in Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh on Monday .
The incident occurred near Benlia village, close to the Jhiriya Tola-Belia road, under the Bijuri police station area bordering Chhattisgarh.
According to police, a speeding Scorpio jeep heading from Jhiriya Tola towards Belia collided head-on with a bike coming from the opposite direction.
The bike rider, identified as Amrit Lal Chaudhary of Nigwani, was on his way to Marwahi for band work when the crash occurred. The impact was so severe that the bike was completely shattered.
After the collision, the Scorpio jeep went out of control, swerving nearly 100 meters before crashing into a house and overturning. The force of the accident claimed the lives of some passengers in the jeep as well.
The three victims were Shubham Ahirwar, Rahul Kewat and Saurabh Pradhan who died on the spot while two others succumbed to injuries during treatment at Bijli Hospital.
The injured were immediately rushed to the nearest hospital with the help of police and Safai Mitra personnel from Nagar Parishad Dola, who played a crucial role in rescue efforts.
The bodies were sent to Kotma and Bijuri Hospitals for postmortem before being handed over to their families. The incident has led the locals of Belia and nearby villages in grief.
