'Calling Gaddar, A Gaddar Is...': Uddhav Thackeray Backs Kunal Kamra Over 'Traitor' Jibe At Eknath Shinde

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Monday backed stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra amid backlash over his "gaddar" dig at Maharshtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Speaking to reporters, Thackeray said that he did not think that Kamra had said something wrong.

Targetting Shinde, Thackeray further added that calling traitor, a traitor was not wrong. The Shiv Sena (UBT) chief also urged reporters to play Kamra's song where Kamra is seen singing a song calling Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde 'gaddar'.

"I don't think Kunal Kamra said anything wrong. Calling 'gaddar', a 'gaddar' is not an attack on anyone...Hear the full song (from Kunal Kamra's show) and make others hear it too," Thackeray told reporters.

Responding to the recent vandalisation of the studio, Habitat Comedy Club in Khar, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has issued stated that it was not carried out by Shiv Sena, but 'gaddar' (traitor) sena did it.

"Shiv Sena has nothing to do with this attack, this has been done by 'gaddar sena'...Those who have 'gaddari' in their blood can never be a Shiv Sainik," Thackeray stated.

Uddhav Thackeray, the chief of Shiv Sena (UBT), supports Kunal Kamra in light of Eknath Shinde splitting the political party Shiv Sena, which was originally founded by Balasaheb Thackeray, Uddhav's father, and forming his own faction amid roll of Maharashtra elections in 2022, creating a split between the Shinde-led and Thackeray-led groups.

Shiv Sena UBT leader, Priyanka Chaturvedi has also showed support to political sattire comedian Kunal Kamra stating, "Dear Kunal, Stay strong..." in her recent X post, supporting Kamra she further added, "And like Voltaire said~ I Will Defend to Death Your Right to speak your mind".
