Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A new express train connecting Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh was flagged off by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh at Raipur railway station on Sunday.

The Raipur–Jabalpur Express is expected to benefit a wide range of passengers, including business travelers, students, tourists, and daily commuters.

Train number 11701 will depart from Raipur at 2:45 PM and reach Jabalpur at 10:45 PM, covering a distance of 408 km in 8 hours.

The return service, 11702, will depart from Jabalpur at 6:00 AM and arrive in Raipur at 1:50 PM.

The train will operate daily and make eight stops along the route.

The train will connect Raipur in Chhattisgarh and Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, marking a major step toward improving rail connectivity across Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh flagged off the train at Raipur railway station. The service was virtually launched by Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Mansukh Mandaviya from Bhavnagar, Gujarat.

Officials called it a historic step that will not only strengthen regional connectivity but also boost trade and tourism.

This new train will make it easier to reach key tourist spots such as Kanha National Park, Maa Bamleshwari Temple, and Bhedaghat. It is also expected to boost local tourism and improve access for people living in towns like Gondia and Balaghat.

The launch is part of broader efforts to enhance passenger experience under the ongoing Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which includes redevelopment of 32 stations and improved facilities at major stops like Raipur, Durg, and Bilaspur.
