Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh Ju-Jitsu Association has organised a self-defence training programme for women and girls in Madhya Pradesh to mark Rakshabandhan. It aims to empower women while protecting their dignity and honour.
It is being organised in collaboration with Universal Martial Arts Academy, a self-defence Shanti Sports and Welfare Foundation. In Bhopal, the 15-day self-defence training camp will begin at Wings Club from Sunday.
Special martial arts experts, international women trainers and players will teach selected self-defence techniques from various martial arts disciplines such as Judo, Karate, Ju-Jitsu, Wushu, Taekwondo, Kalaripayattu, swordsmanship, kick boxing, etc.

Director of the organisation and international martial arts coach, self-defence expert Vijendra Kharsodia (NIS) said that it will also be taught how to protect oneself by using bare hands or household objects like pen, copy, mobile, dupatta, compass as weapons.
International women's coach and player Kumari Rohini Kalam said that besides, an awareness will also be given on important topics like sixth sense, good touch-bad touch, identification of sensitive organs and fundamental rights of women.
‘It has been prepared in the form of a self-defence capsule programme, which began from this Rakshabandhan in entire Madhya Pradesh,’ Kharsodia said adding that the initiative will not only make women self-reliant, but also build their self-confidence.
