Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The city witnessed second murder within 24 hours when a man was brutally killed after being stabbed about 20 times and sustaining broken ribs in a violent assault.
The incident occurred in the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday in the Navdapanth area under Chandan Nagar police station limits.
His body was discovered around 8:30 am on Sunday near a brick kiln adjacent to a wine shop, about 200 metres from his workplace. He had multiple injury marks, but it is still unclear who killed him and why.
Family members suspected a possible loot before the murder, as his mobile phone was missing while a pair of slippers lay at the spot. However, police have ruled out the loot angle in their preliminary investigation.
ACP Shivendu Joshi said it is not yet clear who committed the murder or the motive behind it. “There were no CCTVs near the spot, and we are questioning all persons connected to the case,” he added.
According to the police, the deceased was identified as Arjun Yadav, who worked and lived in a namkeen manufacturing unit.
The post-mortem examination revealed that he was stabbed about 20 times, though the wounds were not deep. Stab injuries were found on his face, chest, abdomen, shoulder, back, and head. He was also struck with a hard blunt object, breaking both his ribs.
Arjun’s elder brother Lalu said that Arjun had visited his house on Sanwer Road on Saturday evening, where Lalu’s daughter tied him a rakhi for Raksha Bandhan. Around 9:30 pm, Arjun left for his workplace.
As he neared the unit, he called a colleague to open the door, telling him he was close by. However, he never reached. The next morning, his body was found near the kiln, about 200 metres from the unit. Police and the FSL team examined the scene, and further investigation is underway.
