IFS Officer Susanta Nanda recently shared a video highlighting the environmental concerns caused by plastic pollution in the forests. The clip showed the wildlife feeding on a heap of garbage disposed off the roadside inside a forest. It captured heart-wrenching display of animals' struggle against human waste, where deer and cows ate litter mainly containing plastic.
Sharing the video on X (formerly Twitter), Nanda wrote, "Only we humans make waste that nature is forced to digest," reflecting how human activity has led to the contamination of natural habitats and wildlife suffering as a result.

The video, which has since gone viral, recorded deer and cows eating trash littered in the woods, including plastic bottles and bags.
This visual was uploaded online amidst the news of a tragic incident near the Vandalur Reserve Forest in Tamil Nadu, where a deer lost its life after consuming discarded plastic waste. Though it is unclear whether the video shared by Nanda depicts the same unfortunate case, the scene captured in the footage is equally alarming and saddening.

The clip opens to show a few animals, a mix of deer and cows, standing surrounded by litter in a forest space. They consumed the harmful trash they found at the site.
The person who recorded the video used a flashlight disturbing a few of the deer who fled upon being startled by the bright light in the night. They left the garbage space, but the cows remained unfazed and continued feeding on the plastic waste thrown there. The video showed the litter containing a concerning mix of plastic bags, bottles, and other disposable items carelessly discarded in the area with wildlife movement.

This viral video has made netizens feel sorry for the state of forests, caused due to reckless disposal of waste by people. Nanda's post served as an alarm and awareness to combat plastic pollution and protect wildlife.
