Palghar, April 30: District Collector Dr. Indurani Jakhar has taken proactive steps to speed up major power transmission projects and promote youth participation in sports, highlighting both infrastructure development and community well-being in the district.
Powering Palghar's Future with High-Voltage Projects
Chairing a high-level review meeting with senior officials from multiple government departments and project stakeholders, Dr. Jakhar reviewed the status of ongoing high-voltage power transmission projects aimed at transforming Maharashtra’s energy sector. She urged the various departments to fast-track crucial processes, including land acquisition, compensation disbursement, and inter-agency clearances. The goal: to ensure these vital infrastructure projects are completed without delay.
The meeting brought together senior figures from the revenue, forest, agriculture, and land records departments, along with police authorities and all sub-divisional officers. Dr. Jakhar stressed the need for expedited land surveys, swift compensation calculations, and quick approvals under the Forest Rights Act (FRA).
Dr. Jakhar noted that Maharashtra is prioritizing the development of high-voltage transmission infrastructure to import green energy generated outside the state. She emphasized that enhancing the renewable energy share is central to the state’s energy policy, which aims to reduce carbon emissions, combat climate change, and ultimately lower electricity costs for consumers.
To streamline these efforts, Dr. Jakhar announced a key administrative appointment. Deputy Collector (Rehabilitation) Tejas Chavan will serve as the dedicated coordination officer for all power transmission projects in the district. Chavan will be the point person for liaising between public and private sector entities involved in the projects, ensuring seamless communication and swift resolution of any hurdles.
Game On: Championing Youth Development Through Sports
In a separate event held the same day, Dr. Jakhar turned the spotlight on sports as a vital component of youth development and well-being. Speaking at the inauguration of a summer sports training camp at the District Sports Complex, organized by the District Sports Office, she encouraged students to incorporate sports into their daily routines.
“In today’s fast-paced world, physical and mental challenges are common. Regular participation in sports is essential to stay healthy and focused,” she said. Dr. Jakhar expressed confidence that sustained sports training would empower local students to compete at national and international levels, bringing accolades to Palghar.
The inauguration saw enthusiastic participation from school students, athletes, and sports officials. District Sports Officer Suhas Vanmane was also present, encouraging youth to take advantage of the camp and make sports a part of their daily routine.
