Palghar, Maharashtra: Police have registered a case against two men for allegedly transporting buffaloes in violation of animal welfare laws in Maharashtra’s Palghar district. The tempo used for the transport and the livestock have been seized, officials said on Wednesday.
Police Seize Vehicle and Livestock in Vangaon
Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a tempo late on August 11 night on the Vangaon road and found 14 buffaloes tightly packed inside, without adequate space, fodder, water, or valid transport documents, according to a police release.
The animals were moved to a shelter home, and the two occupants of the vehicle were booked under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

“Strict instructions have been issued to all police station in-charges and the local crime branch in Palghar to take stringent action against anyone involved in the cruel transportation of animals and livestock,” said Superintendent of Police Yatish Deshmukh.
