Nashik (Maharashtra): Rail traffic on the Central Railway’s main line between Nandgaon and Chalisgaon in Nashik district was disrupted on Friday morning, August 8, after a goods train derailed near Nandgaon. The incident led to the halting of several passenger and goods trains, including the Rajdhani Express, which runs from Delhi to Mumbai.

Visuals from the site, which surfaced online shortly after the incident, show the long goods train stranded on the tracks as a large number of railway officials work to restore operations. Teams were seen engaged in re-railing efforts to remove the derailed wagon and clear the route for regular services.
According to local railway authorities, the derailment occurred when the train was switching from the main line to a loop line. One wagon reportedly came off the tracks, blocking movement along this busy section of the Central Railway network. The disruption affected both goods services and several express trains.
Rail Traffic Disrupted On Central Railway Route
Among the major services impacted was the Rajdhani Express, which operates between Delhi and Mumbai. According to a Lokmat Times report, officials confirmed that the train had to be temporarily halted along the Manmad–Nandgaon–Chalisgaon stretch until clearance work was complete. Passengers on affected trains faced delays as operations were suspended to ensure safety and facilitate repair work.
Railway teams from Nandgaon quickly arrived at the site after the incident was reported. The re-railment operation began immediately, with engineers and track maintenance staff working in coordination to lift the derailed boogie back onto the tracks. While officials have not disclosed the exact cause of the derailment, preliminary findings suggest a possible technical or track-related issue during the line change. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries in the incident.
