A total of 3.77 lakh noise barrier panels have been installed along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train route in Gujarat, covering 188 kilometers of the viaduct. According to a senior official involved in the project, a total of 5.42 lakh panels—sufficient to cover 271 kilometers—have already been cast, out of which 3.77 lakh have been installed.

Mumbai: A total of 3.77 lakh noise barrier panels have been installed along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train route in Gujarat, covering 188 kilometers of the viaduct.

Total 5.42 Lakh Panels Cast for 271 km Coverage

According to a senior official involved in the project, a total of 5.42 lakh panels—sufficient to cover 271 kilometers—have already been cast, out of which 3.77 lakh have been installed.

465 km of 508 km Corridor to Be Built on Viaduct

"Out of the total corridor length of 508 km, 465 km will be on a viaduct, 7 km at ground level, and the remaining portion will be covered by bridges and tunnels" official further added.

Project Targets Noise Reduction in Densely Populated Areas

"To reduce noise pollution and ensure a more peaceful environment for communities along the Bullet Train corridor, the installation of noise barrier panels is progressing rapidly,” the official said. These panels are engineered to significantly reduce noise generated by high-speed trains, particularly in densely populated or environmentally sensitive areas.

A senior project engineer emphasized the project's broader commitment beyond transportation. “This is not just about speed and efficiency,” he said. “It’s about building infrastructure that respects the people and the environment around it.”

MAHSR Stretch Between Vapi and Sabarmati To Be Ready by 2027

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project, which will span 508 kilometers upon completion, is being executed in phases. The corridor will feature 12 stations: Mumbai, Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad, and Sabarmati.

According to the Union Minister of Railways, the stretch between Vapi and Sabarmati is slated for completion by December 2027, while the entire project is expected to be fully operational by December 2029.
