Mumbai: Shiv Sena corporators have voiced their support for a potential alliance with the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) ahead of the upcoming municipal elections. The discussion took place during a meeting at Uddhav Thackeray's residence, Matoshree, where several corporators expressed a positive outlook towards collaborating with MNS.
The meeting, which involved former municipal corporators from Mumbai, covered various topics related to the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, including the possibility of an alliance with MNS. Uddhav Thackeray raised the question of a potential tie-up with MNS, to which many corporators agreed that such an alliance would be beneficial. The corporators also indicated that the political environment in Mumbai is currently favorable for such a partnership.
The idea of an alliance between Shiv Sena and MNS has been a topic of growing speculation in the state for the past few months. Following a recent appeal from MNS chief Raj Thackeray, Uddhav Thackeray has also responded positively, sparking excitement among the workers of both parties. On many occasions party workers of both the parties were seen together at public events showing friendly gestures. Now, it would be interesting to see whether the two Thackeray factions will unite ahead of the elections or not?
During the meeting, Uddhav Thackeray assured the former corporators that they would be consulted before any decisions regarding alliances. He reiterated that any partnership for the BMC elections would be made with their consent. Thackeray also emphasized the importance of staying united within the Shiv Sena, highlighting that many meetings would be held in the coming days. He encouraged former corporators to come together at the Shiv Sena Bhavan to address public issues.
Moreover, Uddhav Thackeray announced that the Shiv Sena election office would soon be opened at the party headquarters. He also hinted that elections could be held between October and November, raising expectations of an early poll season in Mumbai.

Reflecting on the current political climate, former corporators noted that the atmosphere in Mumbai is conducive for an alliance, as both Shiv Sena and MNS workers are actively engaged in joint movements and campaigns.
Meanwhile, MNS President Raj Thackeray held a press conference where he clarified his party's position on the issue of Hindi imposition in schools. Thackeray strongly opposed the government's move to enforce Hindi as a compulsory subject, stating that MNS would not tolerate any such imposition. However, Raj Thackeray refrained from commenting on the potential Shiv Sena-MNS alliance or any other political matters.
As the municipal elections approach, all eyes are on the potential Shiv Sena-MNS alliance, which could reshape the political landscape in Mumbai. The coming weeks will likely determine whether the two Thackeray factions will indeed join forces or continue to operate separately.
