Indore Woman Accused Bihar's Husband Of Forcing Her To Eat Beef, Converting Religion |

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A woman has accused her husband from Bihar’s Begusarai, of forcing her to consume beef, converting her religion and subjecting her to physical assault, as reported on Monday.

According to India Today, the woman was identified as Aarti Kumari, who left her hometown Indore after she married Mohammad Shahbaz 5 years ago.

She recently approached the Begusarai police, requesting help to return to her hometown. She stated that she had met Shahbaz on Facebook, and after several years of friendship, she traveled to Begusarai and married him.

Aarti alleged that after their marriage, Shahbaz pressured her to eat beef and change her religion. She also claimed that he deleted pictures of Hindu deities from her phone and physically abused her when she refused to comply.

Accused introduced himself as gold trader

According to Aarti, Shahbaz had introduced himself as a trader of gold and silver, but in reality, he only made garlands. She said, over time, his behavior became abusive, and he made it clear he no longer wanted to be with her.

Although she approached the Superintendent of Police and was referred to the women’s police station, Aarti did not file a formal complaint against Shahbaz.

Instead, she submitted a written request to be sent back to Indore. The police arranged for her medical examination and placed her in a women’s shelter while processing her request.

Aarti also shared that she had lost contact with her family after the marriage. “My parents consider me dead,” she said, expressing her deep desire to return to her hometown.

Husband denies all charges

In response to the allegations, Shahbaz denied all charges. He claimed Aarti was previously married and has 3 children. According to him, she had undergone surgery and could no longer bear children.

He further alleged that she had relationships with other men and had left home multiple times in the past five years.

“She can’t even read, so why would I ask her to eat beef or read the Quran?” Shahbaz argued. He has also requested the district administration to free him from any association with Aarti, calling her accusations unfounded.

Sadar DSP Subodh Kumar confirmed off-camera that while Aarti did not lodge a formal complaint, she submitted a written request to be sent back to Indore. She has been placed in a women’s shelter, and steps are being taken to facilitate her return.
