Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 24-year-old youth jumped into Bhopal's Upper Lake after an alleged heartbreak. 

According to information, the incident took place near Sheetla Mata Mandir on VIP road under the Talaiya police station jurisdiction on Monday morning.

The youth was identified as Amit Sahu, who went to the Upper Lake’s railing and jumped off the same. 

According to the police, Amit was a resident of Kokta Bypass and was a cab driver by profession. He was a B.Com graduate.

Eyewitnesses present at the spot informed the police that after parking his black Activa (MP 04 UP 4937) near the lake, he stood near the pond for about 5 minutes and then suddenly jumped.

Amit's brother Ravi said that he was in a relationship with a girl for 6 years, but recently the girl refused to marry him, due to which he was suffering from depression. There was also an argument between the two before the incident.

On receiving the information, police and municipal corporation divers reached the spot. Amit was pulled out and CPR was also given, however, by then he had passed away.

Police have registered a complaint and are investigating the matter at present.
