Mhow (Madhya Pradesh): A15-year-old student drowned in the Kankaria Dabri Kund on Monday. He had bunked school with his friends and went for a picnic to the river near Mhow.

According to Naib Tehsildar Radha Vallabh Dhakad, Mayuresh Maratha a resident of Kodaria village was among the seven students from Mhow's Rajeswar School who bunked their classes without informing their parents and went for a picnic to the water body.

SDRF recovered the body after an intensive search of 2 hours

Local residents quickly informed the authorities, and a rescue operation was launched after the bizarre incident.

A team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), along with police personnel and local villagers, worked together to retrieve the body. The search lasted between 1.5 to 2 hours before the body was finally recovered.

The post-mortem was conducted at Madhya Bharat Hospital, and the body was handed over to the family for his final rites. The police have registered a case, and confirmed that the students were reportedly from Mhow and Kodaria.

The incident raises serious questions about the part of negligence played by the school.
