Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The city witnessed a landmark event in the field of foetal medicine during the two-day international conference organised under the banner of Ayushya – The Foetal Medicine Foundation of India, focused on ‘Stillbirth Prevention and Management.’

The event brought together global and national experts who addressed several critical but often overlooked aspects of prenatal care. The highlight of the conference was the virtual participation of Prof Kypros Nicolaides, globally regarded as the father of modern foetal medicine. He presented a revolutionary concept – the ‘New Pyramid of Antenatal Care’ offering a structured roadmap to reduce maternal and perinatal mortality through early screening, personalised care and risk-based intervention.

His evidence-based approach is expected to be of immense benefit to doctors and surgeons involved in obstetric and foetal care.

The second day of the conference was dedicated to scientific discussions and contemporary lectures, with sessions conducted by Dr Shweta Bhandari, Director of Ayushya Centre for Foetal Medicine and Dr Anita Kaul, Clinical Director at Apollo Centre for Foetal Medicine, New Delhi.

Experts shared significant insights on modern diagnostic tools and clinical approaches, making this gathering a historic milestone for foetal medicine education and stillbirth prevention in India.

Hosted at the IRCAD-India Centre of Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences (SAIMS), the event also featured hands-on workshops designed to promote both clinical excellence and empathetic patient care.

One such workshop, ‘CTG Mastery in Labour Rooms,’ trained participants in accurate interpretation of Cardiotocography (CTG) and rapid decision-making during foetal distress situations. Another significant workshop focused on Perinatal Autopsy, shedding light on the biological causes of stillbirths and strategies for early diagnosis and intervention.
