Bihar: Bihar Police on Wednesday seized a horse transporting around 50 litres of smuggled liquor during a raid in West Champaran district. The horse was seized during a police operation where officers discovered 49.95 litres of liquor being transported on horseback. The man who smuggled the alcohol on the horseback fled from the spot.
"During a raid yesterday, we recovered 49.95 litres of alcohol on a horse. The liquor smuggler fled from the spot, but we have identified him and will arrest him soon. The horse will be given to a responsible person who can care for it. We will also inform the court about the same," Rajesh Kumar, SHO Nautan PS said speaking to news agency ANI.
Around 3 am, a police team intercepted the horse along the riverside. However, the smuggler managed to flee, taking advantage of the darkness, the SHO revealed.

The smuggler has been identified as Akash Yadav. An FIR has been filed against him. Manufacturing, transportation, storage and sale of liquor is completely banned in the state under the Excise and Prohibition Act 2016. If the accused fails to pay the fine, the animal would be auctioned like impounded vehicles.

Two months ago, another horse was seized from the same police station limits.The accused, identified as Ram Babu Paswan was arrested with the consignment. The horse was returned to its owner after completing the legal formalities.
