Pilibhit: A case of suicide attempt by a journalist and his wife by consuming poisonous substance has come to light from Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh. The couple has been admitted to the district hospital in critical condition, while the police have started investigating the case.
Israr and his wife made a video before consuming poison and posted it on social media. In the video, they have accused three people including Bisalpur SDM. The couple has been admitted to the district hospital, where the condition of the wife is said to be critical.
In the video, he said that a few days ago he had published a news regarding the corruption happening in road construction. The Chief Minister had taken cognisance of the news. Israr said that due to this, "These people got a case registered against me on the night of 19 May. I was harassed in many other ways as well."
In the video, Israr can be heard saying "I and My wife have become so helpless today that we are both drinking poison. SDM Bisalpur Nagendra Pandey, Barkheda Nagar Panchayat President Shyam Bihari Bhojwal and contractor Moin have harassed us so much that we had to take this step."
Appealing for justice from CM Yogi Adityanath he said,"The police who reached our house on complaint harassed our own family. We are committing suicide by drinking poison. Yogi ji, we should get justice."
In the video, the husband and wife can be seen drinking poison. When the video went viral, the family and close relatives came to know about it. The couple was immediately rushed to the district hospital.
On the complaint of contractor Moin, the Barkheda police station had registered a case of extortion against Israr. The police were constantly raiding to arrest Israr. Israr was upset because of this.
He claimed that he was being implicated in a false case because he had raised his voice against the poor construction work being done by the Nagar Panchayat. After the case was registered, Israr and his wife Miraj were absconding.
