IAF's Corporal Tage Hailyang Among 26 Tourists Killed In Pahalgam Terror Attack; Arunachal Pradesh CM Expresses Condolences

An IAF soldier was among the 26 tourists killed in the Pahalgam terrorist attack on Tuesday. Corporal Tage Hailyang (30) was an IAF personnel from Arunachal Pradesh.

Srinagar: An Indian Air Force (IAF) soldier was among the 26 tourists killed in the Pahalgam terrorist attack on Tuesday. Corporal Tage Hailyang (30) was an IAF personnel from Arunachal Pradesh. At the time of the Pahalgam tourist attack, he was on a holiday to Kashmir with his wife, reported NDTV.

Hailyang was from Tajang village in Arunachal Pradesh's Ziro. He was posted at the Indian Air Force base in Srinagar. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed grief over the demise of the IAF personnel in the terrorist attack.

"Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Corporal Tage Hailyang of the Indian Air Force, a brave son of Arunachal Pradesh who hailed from Tajang village in Lower Subansiri. While visiting Pahalgam with his wife, his life was cruelly taken in a senseless act of terror," Khandu said in an X post.

"He served the nation with courage and honour, and his untimely death is a great loss not only to his family but to the entire country. Our thoughts are with his loved ones, especially his wife who survived this horrific incident. May they find strength and solace in this unimaginable time of grief. We will always remember Corporal Hailyang for his service and sacrifice. Om Mane Padme Hum," the Arunachal Pradesh CM added.

At least 26 tourists were killed and several others were injured in the Pahalgam tourist attack. The attack was carried out by five to six terrorists. Pakistan-based Lahkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group's offshoot The Resistance Force (TRF) claimed responsibility for the attack.

Union Home Minister rushed to Jammu and Kashmir to take stock of the situation on Tuesday night.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also cut short his Saudi Arabia visit and returned to New Delhi on Wednesday morning. He held a security meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and other officials at the airport.
