Pahalgam: Among the 27 killed in the terrorist attack in Jammu & Kashmir's Pahalgam, was Indian Navy officer Vinay Narwal. The 26-year-old got married on 16 April 2025. Lieutenant Vinay Narwal was posted in Kochi and was on leave. Narwal is a native of Haryana, according to reports, Narwal had visited Jammu & Kashmir for his honeymoon.
At least 27 are feared dead, including two foreigners, and 12 are injured after 2-3 terrorists in army uniforms opened fire on tourists in a meadow near Kashmir's Pahalgam.
According to reports, the attackers targeted visitors in Baisaran, a scenic area roughly six kilometres from the popular resort town of Pahalgam. However, officials have yet to confirm the exact death toll.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Kindly accept the sincere condolences over the tragic consequences of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, whose victims were civilians — citizens of various countries. This brutal crime has no justification whatsoever,” he said.
Putin further said Russia expected to see the organisers and perpetrators of the crime to face deserved punishment, He also reiterated Russia’s commitment to further increasing cooperation with Indian partners in fighting terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
Meanwhile, PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti has appealed all Kashmiris to unite in solidarity to support the Jammu Bandh announced by Chamber & Bar Association Jammu tomorrow, as a mark of respect for the innocent lives lost in the brutal assault in Pahalgam.
