Ghaziabad: A major accident was averted in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad, In the Asotec Society, four schoolchildren got trapped in a lift. As the lift got stuck, the children panicked. The lift doors remained closed for approximately 20 minutes. CCTV footage from the lift has surfaced and is making rounds on social media. The incident reportedly took place on Thursday.
Footage shows the children pressing the lift's emergency buttons in an attempt to get help. The children appear visibly distressed, crying and calling for help while looking towards the camera. They can also be seen banging on the lift doors. After a prolonged struggle, the lift partially opens in the middle. It opens and closes a couple of times before a man arrives and begins rescuing the children one by one.

According to a member of the society, the lift's Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) expired on 31st July. According to Dainik Bhaskar, on 23rd June, a family was trapped in a lift in the same society. After struggling for nearly half an hour, the family was eventually rescued.
