Honey Singh, Karan Aujla criticised for their songs
Raj Lali Gill, the chairperson of the women's commission, objected to the lyrics of the songs Millionaire and MF Gabhru, citing that it raises serious concerns about portrayal of women.
In the letter to the DGP, she stated that the lyrics of both the songs are disrespectful towards women and that they promote misogyny. The commission stated that both the songs promote stereotypes and use vulgar language which is beyond 'acceptable boundaries'.
The commission further mentioned that music should not be used to demean women.
Both Honey Singh and Aujla are yet to react to the criticism and summons.
Karan Aujla's track draws ire
It all began after Karan Aujla dropped his song, MF Gabhru, a week ago, and within no time, it garnered millions of likes.
However, it was that song which brought back the debate of objectionable lyrics in songs, and thus Aujla was summoned. The women's commission then also took notice of Honey Singh's Millionaire.

The panel is of the opinion that such songs tend to affect the impressionable minds of the youth, and promote misogyny, sexism and disrespect towards women.
