Television actor Aashutosh Semwal, recently revealed that he narrowly escaped a devastating cloudburst that struck Dharali village in Uttarakhand. The actor had been in the area for work but left the location just a day before the natural disaster occurred.
Aashutosh, who is originally from Pipalkoti, a town nearly 327 km from Dharali, shared his relief and gratitude during an interview with Times of India.

"I’m safe, our place is safe. I’m thankful to God that I left Dharali just a day before the nightmare," he said, as he opened up about how close he came to being caught in the calamity.
The actor also praised the ongoing relief efforts and environmental measures being taken in the wake of the cloudburst. "The government is trying its best to protect not only people but also taking measures to safeguard the flora and fauna that are suffering. I wish and pray for all for the recovery from the disaster," he added.
Currently, Aashutosh is spending time with family in Dehradun and helping his parents with his wedding preparations. "As I wasn’t shooting these days, I was spending more time here in my hometown helping my parents who are preparing for my marriage, which is scheduled for November this year," he shared.
The actor further mentioned that had he not been free from professional commitments, things could have turned out very differently.
Aashutosh to marry Manisha Bhatt
On the personal front, Aashutosh got engaged to Manisha Bhatt on May 14 in an arranged marriage setup. Speaking about their relationship, he had previously shared, "I met her for the first time in an arranged marriage setup. Our parents introduced us. We started talking and meeting as friends and came to the conclusion that we are ready for marriage."
Aashutosh was earlier in a relationship with Pandya Store actress Simran Budharup, however, the duo broke up in September 2023.
Aashutosh is best known for his roles in shows like Meet: Badlegi Duniya Ki Reet, Ishq Subhan Allah, and Sadda Haq – My Life My Choice 2.
Uttarakhand cloudburst
A devastating cloudburst struck the Himalayan village of Dharali in Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand, on Tuesday (August 5), unleashing sudden flash floods that caused widespread destruction.
The deluge swept away homes, shops, and roads, leaving the region in chaos. Several individuals are feared missing as rescue operations continue on a war footing.
Several celebrities, including Sonu Sood, Sara Ali Khan, Vivek Oberoi, Raghav Juyal, Bhumi Pednekar, Adivi Sesh and others, have expressed concern and sympathy for those affected by the disaster.
