WATCH: Unfollowed Diversion Plans Lead To Long Traffic Jam At Indore-Bhopal Highway |

Sehore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore-Bhopal highway has been drastically jammed as devotees from all over India are reaching Madhya Pradesh’s Kubeshwar Dham to attend Pandit Pradeep Mishra’s grand Kanwar Yatra.

Due to this, the vehicles packed with devotees were seen crawling on the highway for hours.

Traffic diversions unfollowed

It is said the traffic police had earlier restricted heavy vehicles and diverted routes to manage the situation.

However, directed measures were not followed. As a result, devotees are facing major inconvenience due to long traffic jams.

A lack of control over vehicle flux on the highway was also observed as vehicles are being allowed in large numbers, worsening the situation. In many areas, the traffic is still blocked.

Another issue that came to light was the alleged failure of the Kubereshwar Dham Management Committee and the district administration to estimate the number of devotees arriving for the event.

The crowd continues to grow as more people reach Sehore, making the situation more difficult to handle.

What was the traffic plan?

Keeping traffic management in mind, entry of heavy vehicles was restricted on the Indore-Bhopal highway. A diversion route was implemented specifically for heavy vehicles.

Route diversion was enforced from 12 am on August 5 to 12 am on August 6. Heavy vehicles coming from Bhopal were directed to take alternate routes via Mubarakpur junction under Parwaliya police station and Tumda junction under Khajuri police station, then through Shyampur-Kurawar-Biaora-Shajapur-Maksi to reach Dewas and Indore.

Similarly, heavy vehicles from Dewas and Indore were rerouted via Maksi-Shajapur-Biaora-Kurawar-Shyampur to reach Bhopal.

For small vehicles and passenger vehicles travelling from Bhopal to Ashta-Dewas-Ujjain-Indore, the alternative route was via New Crescent Square in Sehore to Bhaukhedi junction, then via Amlaha to reach their destinations.

Likewise, vehicles coming from Indore-Ujjain-Dewas towards Bhopal were directed to travel via Ashta-Amlaha-Bhaukhedi junction-New Crescent Square to reach Bhopal.

However, the plan went unfollowed and traffic is expected to persist for an uncertain time period.
