Pune: Hajj Pilgrims To Receive Meningitis, Polio & Influenza Vaccines On April 26 At Azam Campus

Pune: Hajj Pilgrims To Receive Meningitis, Polio & Influenza Vaccines On April 26 At Azam Campus | AFP
The Pune Municipal Health Department will carry out a vaccination campaign for pilgrims going on Hajj on April 26, 2025 in city.
The campaign will be held at Unani Hospital, Azam Campus, near Shooting Ground, Camp, Pune, from 9 AM to 5 PM. The list of eligible pilgrims, comprising around 1,503 names, has been provided to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) by the State Government. A health examination for all concerned pilgrims has already been conducted at Kamla Nehru Hospital.

For the vaccination session scheduled on Saturday, 8 doctors, 23 nurses, 10 data entry operators, and 10 attendants have been appointed, and all have received the necessary training.

The work of vaccine supply, distribution of certificates, and necessary documentation for pilgrims will be handled by Sandesh Deshpande, Shubhangi Waghapure, Neha Murkute, Anuradha Hagwane, and their subordinate staff.
As per government guidelines, all pilgrims listed (except pregnant women) will be administered the oral polio vaccine and the meningitis vaccine (injection).
Dr. Rajesh Dighe, Assistant Health Officer and Immunization Officer of PMC, stated, "Infected persons above the age of 65 will be given a dose of the influenza vaccine."
Dr. Nina Borade, Health Chief of PMC, has appealed to all pilgrims coming for vaccination to eat beforehand and arrive at the vaccination center at their allotted time slot, bringing along xerox copies of their passport and medical certificate.
