Two have been booked by Turbhe police for performing a dangerous stunt on an auto-rickshaw in Khairane MIDC, endangering public safety, and posting the act on Instagram. Later, they were made to record another video outside the police station, apologising for the act and warning people not to attempt such stunts.
Incident Recorded Late at Night
The accused have been identified as Samshud Ahmed Maksud Ahmed (27), a mechanic from Khairane, and Akshay Pandurang Dhotre (26), a rickshaw driver from Turbhe. According to police, the incident took place around 12:30 a.m. on August 9 on the service road along Belapur Lane, parallel to Thane–Belapur Road, near the Fire Brigade Office.
Police said Ahmed allegedly sat on the hood of auto-rickshaw MH-43-CA-5155 while no one was in the driver’s seat, creating a risk to himself and others. The stunt was allegedly encouraged by Dhotre, who recorded the act and uploaded the video to social media.

A case, filed by police constable Santosh Vilas Tole, has been registered under relevant sections. Both accused were issued notices under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS) and released. The investigation is being led by Police Sub-Inspector Satish Kadam under Patil’s supervision.
