Navi Mumbai: Animal Lovers Thrash Youth With Slippers On Road For Beating Dog With Stick In Kopar Khairane; VIDEO Viral

Navi Mumbai, August 04: In a shocking incident, a video has surfaced on social media in which it can be seen that a youth is being thrashed and humiliated in the middle of the road for beating an innocent dog.

A video showed the young man beating the dog with a huge piece of wood and forcing it to leave his house compound. It can be seen in the video that the man forces the dog to get out of the gate after beating inhumanely. The dog sustained serious injuries in the attack, triggering widespread anger among animal lovers.

Details About The Incident

There are reports that the incident occurred in Navi Mumbai's Kopar Khairane area. A group of animal lovers found the youth and confronted him about the incident. It is being claimed in the video that the youth beat the poor animal after his mother provoked him to beat the dog. They also stated that they would repeat the act, after which the animal lovers got furious and started beating the young man in the middle of the road.

Beaten With Slippers

He was humiliated in the middle of the road, as the women present in the group also thrashed him with slippers, slaps and kicks. He was then taken to the police station in a car. A video has also surfaced from inside the car where the youth was forced to apologise for his inhumane act. He apologised with folded hands and claimed that he thrashed the dog as his mother told him to do so.

Video Viral

The viral video was reportedly shared by an Instagram account identified as Vijay Rangare, whose profile describes him as an Honorary Animal Welfare Officer, Maharashtra State, Govt. of Maharashtra. The exact date of the incident remains unclear. However, the internet users are slamming the youth for his evil act and are demanding strict action against the accused.

Vigilantism

While the act of animal of animal cruelty is condemnable, the incident also raises questions of vigilantism. Publicly humiliating and beating the accused is not acceptable as taking law into one's own hands is incorrect. While animal abuse is unacceptable and punishable under the law, retaliatory violence is also criminal.

Police Action

There are no reports of any action in connection with the violence created by the animal lovers in the middle of the road. However, the youth was dragged to the police station by the vigilantes or the animal lovers and police action was reportedly taken against the accused.
