Mumbai: A fire broke out on Monday near a skywalk adjacent to the railway tracks at Thane railway station, sparking panic among commuters in the vicinity. Thick smoke and flames were seen dangerously close to passing trains, prompting immediate attention from the fire brigade and emergency services.
Video Of Blaze Surfaces On The Internet
Videos of the incident quickly went viral, showing black smoke billowing from the spot while trains continued to move along the tracks. The fire, which caused a brief scare, was swiftly brought under control, according to the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC).
Cooling operations are currently underway to ensure there is no chance of reignition. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported and train services continued to operate without disruption. Authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation and an investigation is expected to determine the cause of the fire.
Fire In 19-Storey Kanjurmarg Tower, All Residents Rescued Safely
Meanwhile, on Sunday night, a fire broke out at the N G Royal Park residential tower, a 19-storey building in Kanjurmarg East. The blaze was reported at around 11:40 pm and was confined to the electric duct running from the first to the top floor of the building.
Located near Gandhi Market on R. Deshmukh Marg, the building houses numerous families. Several residents were trapped on various floors and the terrace when the fire erupted. Firefighters from the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) acted promptly and safely evacuated all stranded residents via the staircase.
According to a statement from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the fire was limited to electrical wiring and installations within the vertical duct. The incident was declared a Level I (minor) fire and was fully extinguished by 1:24 am.
No casualties or injuries were reported, and the situation was brought under control before it could escalate further. Fire officials are now assessing the building's safety and checking for any remaining risks.
