Mumbai: In a shocking incident, a 31-year-old man allegedly molested a 26-year-old woman in a moving bus from Prabhadevi to Worli on April 10. The incident took place around 10 am, when the victim was travelling in from Prabhadevi to Kurne Chowk in Worli by the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) bus.
The incident happened when the unknown man who was standing behind the woman started molesting her and touching her private parts in the moving bus. After the incident, the woman filed a complaint on April 16 at the Worli police station.

The Mumbai police, DCP (Zone 3), Dattatraya Kamble, said, "As soon as we received the complaint, we immediately registered an FIR and started the investigation, according to an NDTV report.
Mumbai Police Examined Around 30 CCTV Footage
The Crime Branch Unit 3 formed a special team to investigate the incident. The team analysed CCTV footage from various locations where the accused boarded and exited the bus. Crucial evidence came from the CCTV camera installed inside the BEST bus, which showed a man standing behind the victim. Upon reviewing the footage, the victim identified the man as the one who had molested her.
Further investigation led the police to examine footage from around 25 locations in the Worli area. They eventually traced the accused to the Great Ship Company, where he was employed. Acting swiftly, the police apprehended the suspect, who later confessed to the crime during interrogation, as per report.
Details About The Accused
The accused was identified as 31-year-old Irfan Hussein Shaikh, a resident of Kherwadi in Bandra. Following a medical examination, he was handed over to the Worli police station for further legal proceedings.
