Etawah: A disturbing case of revenge has emerged from Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah district, where a man killed his mother, reportedly angry over her decision to leave his father and marry another man from the same village seven years ago.

The accused has been identified as Kaushal Sharma, a 29-year-old resident of Khuriyapura village in Agra. He had been living with his father, Sanjay Sharma, ever since his mother, Yashoda, left the family to marry Ramnivas Sharma, a man from the same village. Since then, Kaushal had reportedly harboured deep resentment and had been plotting revenge.

According to Kaushal’s statement to the police, he believed his mother’s actions had brought shame upon him in society, making it difficult for him to marry. Humiliated by the social stigma, he began conspiring to kill her.

In his confession, Kaushal stated that he, along with his friends Bobby and Rajat, lured Yashoda out on the pretext of taking her to get medicine. They made her sit in a Scorpio , and after driving some distance, they threw her out of the vehicle and then ran her over, killing her. Her body was later dumped on the roadside before the accused fled the scene.

On 29 July, the police discovered the body of an unidentified woman near Khandia bridge in the Balrai area. Upon investigation, she was identified as Yashoda, a resident of Khuriyapura village under the Jaitpur police station in Agra. A complaint was lodged by her current husband, after which the police launched a detailed investigation.

A major breakthrough came when CCTV footage revealed Kaushal was last seen with his mother. When questioned, he confessed to the crime.

The police have arrested Kaushal Sharma along with his accomplices Bobby and Rajat. They recovered the Scorpio SUV, a motorbike, and three mobile phones used in the crime. All three have been booked and sent to jail under Sections 103(1), 201(3), and 201(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
