Muzaffarnagar: Lakhs of devotees have embarked on the Kanwar Yatra to Haridwar. These pilgrims cover hundreds of kilometres on foot, collect sacred Ganga water and offer it at their local Shiva temples. The purpose of this religious journey is rooted in faith, penance, and the fulfilment of wishes.

Amidst this spiritual pilgrimage, a heartwarming love story has emerged — one that blends devotion to Lord Shiva with deep personal commitment. Rahul Kumar, a resident of Narela, Delhi, is walking 220 kilometres on foot, carrying a Kanwar filled with 121 litres of Ganga water — a journey inspired by love and unwavering determination.

Rahul's Sole Wish

This is Rahul's fourth Kanwar Yatra. Last year, he carried 101 litres of Ganga water, but this time he has increased the quantity by 20 litres, pledging to offer 121 litres.

Rahul shared that his girlfriend is preparing for the civil services, and he dreams of seeing her become an IPS officer one day. With this purpose, he undertakes the Kanwar Yatra every year, praying to Lord Shiva. He says he will continue this annual journey until their shared wish is fulfilled.

Rahul's Education Qualification

Rahul himself has studied up to Class 12. Accompanying him on this difficult spiritual journey is his friend Nandlal, who is travelling alongside him on a bike.

What Is Kanwar Yatra

The Kanwar Yatra is an annual pilgrimage that is observed by millions of devotees of Lord Shiva. Devotees who take part in this auspicious yatra are known as Kanwariyas. This revered month is observed during the Hindu month of Shravan (July-August). Sawan, also known as Shravan, is a holy month in the Hindu calendar.
