Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The speeding SUV (Thar) which hit five vehicles resulting in death of an e-rickshaw driver at Subhash Nagar on Tuesday night was driven by a minor who is on the run, revealed police investigations. Police are questioning the two persons who were also in the SUV and were caught by the locals.
In-charge at Aishbagh police station Vijay Sengar said efforts were underway to trace the minor, a resident of Ashoka Garden area. Sengar said that the SUV belongs to one Soni of Raisen district.
Soni claimed that he had attached the SUV to the travel agency of his friend Siddarth of Bawadia Kala. Police questioned Siddarth who informed police that the SUV was rented out to one Ayaan Ali of Ashoka Garden area.
Police officials said that the travel agency will also be made an accused in the case as they gave the SUV without proper verification of those who rented it. It is also suspected that they even did not check the driving license of the youths.
Teenager driving SUV was ‘drunk’
It is worth mentioning that the speeding SUV coming from Chetak Bridge was heading towards Prabhat Petrol Pump. Locals claimed that the youth driving the SUV was drunk.
The SUV first hit two bikes and then rammed into an e-rickshaw before colliding with another car and an auto. The e-rickshaw driver Khairullah (56) died on the spot. Resident of Aishbagh area, Khairullah used to work as a security guard during the day and drive an e-rickshaw for additional income at night. He was sole breadwinner of the family.
