Big Update: Post Office To Help With Mutual Fund KYC, Easier Process For Investors
Mutual fund investors can now complete their KYC process at nearby post offices. Post office staff will help with form filling, document verification, and submission to mutual fund companies.

Mumbai: Now, mutual fund investors can complete their KYC (Know Your Customer) process at post offices. The Department of Posts has signed an agreement with the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI). This makes it easier for people to invest in mutual funds.
What Help Will the Post Office Give?
Post office staff will help investors with:
- Filling out the KYC form
- Verifying self-attested documents like Aadhaar, PAN, passport
- Sending the documents to Asset Management Companies (AMCs)
New KYC Rules from April 1
From April 1, 2025:
- PAN and Aadhaar verification is mandatory
- If you had done KYC earlier without these documents, you must do it again
- KYC is required to invest in any mutual fund

How to Do KYC at the Post Office?
- Visit your nearest post office offering KYC service
- Ask for the KYC registration/update form
- Fill in your name, PAN, Aadhaar, mobile number, address
- Submit your documents (self-attested)
- Do biometric or OTP verification
- Submit the form and get a receipt
- KYC will be updated in 2–5 working days

- Click on the KYC Status/Check link
- Enter your 10-digit PAN number
Your KYC status will appear on screen:
Validated – KYC is approved
Registered – KYC submitted but not yet verified
On Hold – Some issue needs fixing
Rejected – KYC not accepted
