Piparia (Madhya Pradesh): An FIR has been registered in the case of substandard moong found in the Anantashree Warehouse located in Padrakha village of Bankhedi block. The FIR was registered on Wednesday following the orders of District Collector Sonia Meena, after a joint raid by NAFED officials and local administration uncovered large-scale irregularities in government moong procurement.

SDM Anisha Srivastava confirmed that hundreds of quintals of substandard moong were found during a raid at the Marketing Society’s Bankhedi Centre operating from the Anantashree Warehouse. The warehouse was subsequently sealed. A follow-up inspection revealed an adjacent unauthorized warehouse, connected by a single shutter, filled with 283 sacks and four heaps of non-standard moong.

Bankhedi police station incharge Vijay Sans said a case had been registered based on a written complaint by Senior Agriculture Extension Officer Brajpal Shah Uike. The FIR names warehouse owner Sanjay Rai, Marketing Society Manager Pradeep Kushwaha, and Surveyor Kailash Bagdi. They have been charged under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to the complaint, substandard moong was being mixed with government-procured stock to pass it off under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme. NAFED officials expressed displeasure at the presence of such stock in an unmapped facility, especially when procurement mapping is done with visits from multiple government departments.

The investigation team included officials from agriculture, revenue, and warehousing departments. Further investigation into the scam is ongoing.
