Narmadapuram (Madhya Pradesh): Thousands of people from different parts of the country and the state flocked to Padmesh temple in Pachmarhi to offer prayers at Padmesh temple on the occasion of the third Monday of Shravan.

The temple is surrounded by a chain of mountain ranges and dark green woods. To reach the temple, a devotee has to take circuitous rounds through the hilly terrains.

The Nagdwari fair is also organised during this period. More than three lakh people have visited the fair and the temple of Padmesh.

Chief Executive Officer of the district Panchayat and president of Mahadev Mela Samiti, Sojan Singh Rawat, additional district magistrate DK Singh, and other officials are monitoring the arrangements at the fair.

The administration is making all efforts to help the devotees. A control room has been set up to keep an eye on the goings-on in the fair. Policemen have been deployed at different places to deal with any untoward incident.

The heavy rain damaged roads at many places. A team of PWD officials immediately cleared the roads with the help of JCB.

Youth dies in landslide

A 24-year-old devotee from Nagpur, Deepak Nawre, suffered injuries following a landslide on Mahadev Marg near Chouragarh and died during treatment. The rescue team took him to Pachmarhi Hospital. After preliminary treatment, he was sent to Narmadapuram.

Block medical officer Richa Katakwar said several bones of the youth were broken. During treatment at a private hospital in Narmadapuram, the youth died on Friday. The incident reportedly took place on July 22.
