Amid growing tensions between India and Pakistan, as both countries targeted each other’s military establishments, the United States has asked its consulate personnel and citizens in Lahore and Punjab (Pakistani province), to shelter in place or leave the area if safe.

In a security alert for its embassy and consulates in Pakistan, the US Consulate General in Lahore stated on Thursday: "Due to reports of drone explosions, downed drones, and possible airspace incursions in and near Lahore, the US Consulate General in Lahore has directed all consulate personnel to shelter in place."

The advisory also mentioned that Pakistani authorities might evacuate some areas adjacent to Lahore’s main airport.

The US Consulate General advised citizens in Lahore to leave the conflict zone if they could do so safely. If leaving was not possible, they were instructed to shelter in place.

The advisory urged US citizens to "have evacuation plans that do not rely on US government assistance."

Meanwhile, India stated on Thursday said that Pakistan attempted to engage a number of military targets in northern and western India, using drones and missiles.

"These were neutralised by the Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and air defence systems. Debris from these attacks has been recovered from multiple locations, confirming Pakistan’s involvement," Indian government said in a statement.
