Islamabad, May 08: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan on Thursday raised serious questions about Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s claim that Pakistan shot down five Indian jets during India’s Operation Sindoor.

Aleema accused Sharif of spreading falsehoods, countering his statement in the National Assembly where he claimed that 80 Indian aircraft carried out strikes deep inside Pakistan. He further asserted that the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) was prepared and responded by shooting down five Indian jets.

A video has surfaced on social media in which Aleema is addressing the media, alleging that Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are hand in glove with each other.

She said, "Yeh jo claim kar rahe hain ki inhone yeh jo jahaz giraye hai. Nawaz Sharif ki government claim kar rahi hai na. Toh yahan pe drone pe drone andar aa rahe hai. India se andar Rawalpindi tak pahuch rahe hai. Pindi tak pahuche kaise?" (They are claiming that they have shot down these aircrafts. It's Nawaz Sharif's government that's making this claim, right? But here, drones are coming in one after another. They are entering from India and reaching all the way to Rawalpindi. How did they reach Pindi?)

She claimed that the situation in Pakistan has been deliberately created to target the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ahead of the second anniversary of the May 9 riots.

What happened on May 9?

A series of violent riots occurred in Pakistan on May 9. The riots took place in the entire country after the arrest of PTI leader and former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The riots escalated and incidents of vandalism, looting and arson occurred in the country. Around Rs 1.98 billion worth of government property and military facilities were damaged by the PTI workers and Imran Khan supporters. Pakistan military initiated a massive crackdown against the leaders and members of PTI after the riots.
