Chad's former prime minister and opposition leader Succes Masra, was taken by force from his home in the wee hours on Friday, his party said. "Succes Masra was just abducted by military force today, May 16 at 5:56 am" from his home, which also serves as headquarters for his party, Les Transformateurs (The Transformers), said a post on his official Facebook page.
A purported CCTV footage that showed him leaving his house in blue color outfit surrounded by around a dozen armed men in military uniform has surfaced.
Reportedly, Masra was arrested in connection with an intercommunal clash in Chad’s southwest province of Logone Occidental that killed 42 people. Reports suggest, Masra is accused of inciting hatred and violence through social media posts that called on the population to arm themselves against a community in the area.

Masra, served as prime minister of Chad from January to May 2024. In May 2024 he lost to Mahamat Idriss Deby, with the state election body giving Deby 61% of the vote. Before the official announcement of the election's preliminary results, Masra had claimed victory and alleged that electoral fraud was being planned.
Masra is one of the main opposition leader against President Mahamat Idriss Deby.
