Sao Paulo: At least eight people have reportedly been killed after a hot air balloon carrying 22 people caught fire and crashed in Brazil's Southern state of Santa Catarina on Saturday.
A video of the burning hot air balloon falling to the ground has surfaced. The video shows a person jumping out of the hot air balloon and falling from the sky as the Montgolfier balloon plummets to the ground after deflating.
The incident took place in the wee hours, crashing in the city of Praia Grande, according to the state fire department.
13 people survived and eight died in the tragic incident, said, Governor of Santa Catarina Jorginho Mello. He also informed, rescue teams are at the site of the incident searching for others.
He further said, "We are all shocked by the accident. Our teams continue to provide all necessary support to families and victims. We continue to monitor the situation."
