Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), August 03: A shocking video has surfaced on social media from Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj, where parents are seen carrying their small baby overhead and crossing the waterlogged street. The video of the incident is doing rounds on social media and the incident shows how rainfall has created havoc in many parts of Uttar Pradesh. Heavy rainfall in the state has resulted in severe flooding in several districts. The flooding is caused as Ganga and Yamuna river waters have risen sharply. Flooding has forced residents to move to safety through the waterlogged streets.
On Saturday (August 02) night, residents in the Chhota Baghara area of Prayagraj woke up to find floodwater rising rapidly inside their homes. Streets were completely submerged and escape routes were difficult to find. Many people abandoned their belongings to rush towards higher ground for safety.
Heart-Touching Video Surfaces
One heart-touching incident from Chhota Baghara has gone viral on social media. A video shows a family trying to rescue a newborn and its mother from the flooded neighborhood. With no official help available at that moment, the father can be seen carrying the baby on his hands above his shoulders while another family member carries the mother on his back. Slowly and carefully, they made their way through waist-deep water to reach a safer area. Onlookers could only pray, saying, “Ganga Maiya, have mercy!”

Flood conditions in Prayagraj remain severe. By Saturday evening, the water level of the rivers crossed 84.734 meters, going above the danger mark. More than two dozen localities are underwater and thousands of homes have been submerged. Around 3,000 people have been displaced and are now living in relief camps set up by the district administration.
Rescue and relief operations are ongoing. The administration has deployed 12 boats and multiple NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) teams to help evacuate residents and provide emergency support.
