Auraiya (Uttar Pradesh), July 30: In a shocking incident, a 23-year-old youth was bitten by a snake on the occasion of Nag Panchami 2025. The youth was shooting an Instagram reel with the snake around his neck, when the venomous reptile bit him. The youth had to be rushed to the nearby hospital where he is receiving treatment. A video of the youth with the snake around his neck has hit the internet and the video of the incident is doing rounds on social media.
'Snake Charmer'
There are reports that the incident occurred in Dayalpur-Bhikhamapur which falls under the Auraiya Police Station area. The viral video shows that the youth took the snake from a snake charmer and wrapped it around his neck. The youth returned the snake to the charmer after shooting a small video.
Darshan On Nag Panchami
The snake charmer had come to the neighbourhood on the occasion of Nag Panchami. A young man identified as Amit Rajput (23) picked up the snake and placed it around his neck and touched its hood while posing for the reel. He continued recording the video for several moments. However, as soon as he released the snake's hood, it bit him on the hand.
Youth Hospitalised
His health began to deteriorate quickly after the incident. He was reportedly feeling dizzy and faint. The people present on the spot realised the seriousness of the situation and rushed him to the nearby hospital. The snake charmer reportedly fled the spot after the incident occurred.
Amit was rushed to the Zila Sanyukt Chikitsalay and his family was informed about the incident. Doctors at the hospital provided him treatment and later it was stated that he is out of danger.

His Statement
He said, “Everyone was taking Darshan, so I thought I would also touch its feet since it was Nag Panchami. When I saw everyone touching it, I thought I would too. I held the snake, thinking it was a pet snake, but suddenly an accident happened, it just bit me.”
When asked who brought the snake, he replied, “The Jogis had brought the snake. They roam around the neighbourhood with it.”
