TCS is back under the scanner for all the wrong reasons. After announcing a salary hike for its employees, a Reddit post has now sparked widespread concern among fresh graduates and IT professionals after claims surfaced that Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is now letting go of freshers, including those hired under its Ninja and Digital profiles. The post, which has garnered over 740 upvotes, includes first-hand accounts alleging forced resignations and a rising number of layoffs not reflected in official numbers.
According to the Reddit user, TCS is now firing freshers from its Ahmedabad and Pune office. "Is it true that TCS is now firing freshers too? Especially Ninja and Digital candidates? Not too long ago a fellow associate (digital) got fired while he was on bench. Today a friend of mine told me that most of the trainees from Ahmedabad and Pune were fired after staying on bench for hardly 4-5 weeks. I was under the impression that the new 35 days bench policy was not for freshers, but maybe I was wrong."
Another user replied to this post to confirm this and said that TCS allegedly asked them to resign during a sudden meeting regarding project allocation. The user claims they were given only 15 minutes to decide between resigning voluntarily, with a three-month payout and a clean release letter, or facing termination with a negative exit record and no compensation.
"He straight away told me to either resign immediately in front of him or face termination with a negative release letter and no pay," the user wrote. "I already had a project allocation lined up, but he totally shut it off saying that my profile is blocked by RMG and there's no need for a digital candidate in the region."
The post further alleges that several other freshers from the same batch were asked to resign under similar pressure, including one candidate who broke down in the meeting room and was not allowed to leave.
Employees also raised concerns about the official layoff figures reported by the company. While media reports have cited the number of layoffs at around 12,000 employees, the Reddit post claims that the actual figure could be significantly higher, possibly over 80,000, if forced resignations are included.
One Reddit user even said, "Yeah I saw a few seniors getting laid off as well. I saw a lot of people crying." As of now, TCS has not issued any official statement responding to these allegations.
