Google has released a cheeky teaser mocking Apple over its delay in upgrading Siri’s AI capabilities. The teaser comes ahead of the highly anticipated launch of the Pixel 10 series, scheduled for August 20. Apple has been trying to play catch up in the AI race. In this teaser, Google advices Apple users to 'just change their phone.'
Shared via the official @madebygoogle X handle, the teaser features the Pixel 10, poking fun at Apple for being stuck in “coming soon” mode for nearly a year. "If you buy a new phone because of a feature that's coming soon, but its been coming soon for a full year, you could change your definition of 'soon', or you could just change you phone," the video says, alluding to Apple’s much-hyped but still unreleased AI enhancements to Siri.
The Pixel 10 is likely to boast full integration with Google's Gemini AI. The teaser closes with a confident message: “Ask more from your phone.”
This isn’t the first time Google has taken playful jabs at its Cupertino competitor. Over the years, both companies have traded barbs—sometimes subtly, sometimes openly—as they vie for dominance in the premium smartphone segment.
The latest dig, however, hits Apple where it hurts most: its perceived lag in artificial intelligence. While Apple did preview a slew of AI features under the “Apple Intelligence” umbrella at WWDC 2025, many of those features—including a revamped Siri experience—are yet to make their way to users, with a full rollout expected only in 2026.
Meanwhile, Google’s current Pixel lineup has already been infused with Gemini-powered features like real-time translation, AI-powered camera tools, summarisation on-device, and advanced personal assistant functions.
With the Pixel 10 launch now just weeks away, the teaser sets the tone for what’s coming from Google. Whether it can convert the mockery into market share, however, remains to be seen. Apple still holds the largest share in the smartphone market and is also going to reveal its iPhone 17 lineup just weeks after the Pixel 10 series unveil.
