Wimbledon 2025: Virat Kohli Hails Novak Djokovic As 'Gladiator' In Appreciation Post, Serbian Admires Cricket Achievements

Virat Kohli, who attended Novak Djokovic's Wimbledon match along with wife Anushka Sharma, was left awestruck by the gritty display from the Former World No. 1 as Djokovic registered a 1-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 comeback win over De Minaur.

With no test cricket to look forward to, Virat Kohli, along with wife Anushka Sharma, attended a Wimbledon match featuring Novak Djokovic on Monday, June 7. The Serbian made a gritty comeback from one set down to register 1-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 win over De Minaur in a thrilling Centre Court Round of 16 clash.

Kohli who was left awestruck by Djokovic's ‘gladiator’ act, posted a message on his Instagram story which said, "What a win! It was business as usual for the gladiator,". Djokovic responded with a four-word message. "Thank you for supporting," on his social media handle.

Novak Djokovic praises Virat Kohli for speaking highly of him

Novak Djokovic hailed Virat Kohli and revealed that the two have been texting each other for a few years but never met in person. He said, "Virat Kohli and I have been texting a little bit for a few years and we never got the chance to meet in person, but it was really a privilege and an honour to listen to him speak nicely about me,"

Djokovic added, "I obviously admire all of his career and achievements and everything he has done," . The 38-year-old further added that he will have to perfect his cricket skills before going to India to avoid any embarrassment.

He said,"I started to play cricket. I'm not very good at it, but you know, obviously cricket being a very big, big sport in Australia and of course India... You know, let's say that I'll have a task to perfect my cricket skills before I get to India so that I don't embarrass myself when I'm there,".

Djokovic keeps dream alive of 25 major title

Djokovic continued his journey toward the record 25th major title, that could see him breaking a tie with the long-retired Margaret Court, and a record-equalling eighth men's crown at the All England Club. The victory could also make him the oldest Grand Slam winner in the Open Era. Djokovic will next face 22nd seed Flavio Cobolli, who beat former Wimbledon runner-up Marin Cilic 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (4/7), 7-6 (7/3).
