World No 1 Jannik Sinner displayed a class act and true sportsmanship by carrying Grigor Dimitrov's bags off the court after the Bulgarian was forced to retire from the fourth-round match due to injury. Dimitrov suffered right pectoral injury during the third set, making it impossible for him to continue the match.

How did Grigor Dimitrov suffer an injury?

The 34-year-old Dimitrov was playing one the best tennis and was leading Sinner 6-3, 7-5. However, during the third set, he suddenly collapsed to the grass, clutching his chest in visible pain.

Sinner rushed across the court to check on him, while anxious expressions filled Dimitrov's box. Medical staff were quickly summoned.

He briefly left the court in tears, needing medical attention. He returned only to confirm he couldn't continue bringing a gripping contest to a heartbreaking end.

The Bulgarian, who has been forced to retire in all five of his previous Grand Slam matches, later skipped media duties as Wimbledon issued a statement reading: "Following on-court treatment and after further medical advice, Grigor Dimitrov will not be undertaking any media commitments tonight."

Sinner on Dimitrov's injury

Speaking about the incident Sinner said, " I don't know what to say because he's an incredible player. I think we all saw that today," Sinner said. "He's been so unlucky in the past couple of years. He's a good friend of mine, and we understand each other very well off the court."

He added,"If there were a chance he could play the next round, he would deserve it.I don't take this as a win at all. "Just an unfortunate moment to witness for all of us."

 Sinner advances to face No. 10 seed Ben Shelton of the United States in the quarterfinals - his seventh straight Grand Slam quarterfinal appearance.
