Dinesh Karthik has praised Shubman Gill’s early leadership as India’s Test captain, saying he sees similarities between Gill and former skipper Virat Kohli. Karthik believes Gill is starting to show signs of strong leadership and could grow into the role like Kohli once did.

Karthik recently spoke on the Sky Sports Cricket podcast about Kohli's captaincy. He recalled Kohli saying, “People think, 'I’m a great Test cricketer. I enjoyed my test batting, which I did, but the fact is that getting my captaincy was the best thing to happen in my life. Why I am saying this is that the same line was used by Shubman Gill.'” What surprised Karthik was that Gill used the exact same line recently, showing how much the young captain is inspired by Kohli's mindset.

According to Karthik, Gill may not yet fully understand how tough the job is, especially leading in England. However, Gill has a big chance to prove himself, especially with England missing some of their top bowlers. Karthik feels this is the perfect time for Gill to show bold leadership and perform with the bat.

In simple terms, Karthik believes Shubman Gill is on the right path, but he must keep learning, trust himself, and take charge confidently just like Kohli did when he became captain.

IND Vs ENG, 2nd Test: Wasim Jaffer Claps Back At Michael Vaughan After His Bold '4-0' Prediction Backfires

Former India opener Wasim Jaffer once again brought his signature humour to the forefront by hilariously trolling ex-England captain Michael Vaughan after India’s dominant 336-run victory in the second Test at Edgbaston on July 6, 2025. The win leveled the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series 1-1, and Jaffer made sure to deliver the perfect response to Vaughan’s earlier bold prediction.

Following England’s impressive five-wicket win in the series opener at Headingley, Leeds, Vaughan had confidently claimed that Ben Stokes' side could sweep the series 4-0. He even poked fun at India’s fielding and offered to become their fielding coach in a cheeky post. But India’s emphatic comeback at Edgbaston gave Jaffer the opportunity he was waiting for.

In a now-viral post on social media, Jaffer shared a video clip of Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir ringing a bell at a stadium. It was a sarcastic way of saying “ghanta,” which means “as if” or “not possible,” directly mocking Vaughan’s over-the-top prediction.

The video not only made fans laugh but also showcased Jaffer’s continued flair for sharp and timely online banter. His lighthearted jab, paired with Gambhir's presence, added even more flavour to the rivalry, both on and off the field.

The post quickly gained traction, with Indian cricket fans flooding the comment section with laughter and applause for Jaffer’s perfect comeback. The moment highlighted the strong response by Shubman Gill’s side, who silenced critics with a convincing win and reminded everyone that writing off Team India is never a safe bet.
