A clean first stage of the penultimate race of the NASCAR Cup Series regular season at Richmond Raceway, was followed by a collision as Chase Elliott crashed his vehicle. In a video surfaced on social media, chaos broke out as Chase Elliott's car crashed onto the outside wall, nearly taking his teammate William Byron with him too.
Although Elliott was lucky enough to navigate through the wreck that happened, his fortune didn't last long. After navigating through the smoke and wreck, the American race driver collided with Kyle Busch and the crash was hard as the visuals surfaced on social media. His race was over then and there as the 29-year-old sustained his first DNF (Did not finish) of the current season.
Elliott held a tremendous record until the crash, completing 5950 laps out of 5951 during the NASCAR’s Cup Series 2025 season. As a result, Saturday night's crash ensured that his string of 27 races without a DNF ended.

Speaking about the incident, Elliott said he didn't expect that to unravel as it did, especially after navigating through the crash and carnage. He said, as quoted by roadandtrack.com:
"I have no idea what happened. I saw them crashing and were all stacking up, trying to get stopped. After the wreck was over, I thought we were done wrecking and I was just trying to squeak by. I guess somebody didn't know I was down there. I guess Kyle didn't know I was to the left. Whoever was next to me [Zane Smith] and myself were trying to get through the accident, and we were coming through there at a decent rate. Unfortunately, Kyle just didn't know that we were on the bottom. Hate that. We had a good start to the night, and it slowly unraveled until it finally fell apart."
Elliott was assessed after the crash but was soon released from the Infield Care Center.
