The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans finally have a reason to cheer as Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood rejoined the squad in Lucknow on Sunday morning, just in time for the final stretch of the IPL 2025 season. His return comes as a massive boost to RCB’s bowling unit ahead of their last league match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

Hazlewood's availability had been clouded by uncertainty, with earlier reports suggesting he might skip the remainder of the tournament to prepare for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) Final between Australia and South Africa at Lord's. Additionally, he was recovering from a shoulder niggle that had sidelined him during RCB’s game against Chennai Super Kings before the IPL season was temporarily suspended.

However, quashing all speculation, Hazlewood arrived in India and joined the RCB camp, with the franchise confirming the news via their official X (formerly Twitter).

Speaking in a video shared by the team, Hazlewood expressed his excitement,"Yeah obviously, it's great to be back. Made the most of the last week in Brisbane and bowled quite a few overs. Everything is feeling very good. Hopefully, will get the ball rolling. Looking forward to practice,"

RCB gets Hazlewood boost in push for top spot

Hazlewood’s return could not have come at a better time for RCB. The right-arm seamer has been one of their standout performers this season, claiming 18 wickets in just 10 matches. His ability to strike with the new ball and maintain control at the death has been pivotal in RCB’s campaign.

His absence was sorely felt in recent matches, especially during the heavy defeat to SunRisers Hyderabad, where RCB leaked over 230 runs. As RCB prepare to face the Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium, it remains uncertain whether Hazlewood will take the field.

However, RCB's path to a top-two finish isn’t entirely in their hands. They must secure a victory over Rishabh Pant's side in their final league fixture and hope for either Gujarat Titans or Punjab Kings to falter.
