Carlos Alcaraz caused a stir at the ongoing French Open 2025 when he showed up for his second-round match against Fabian Marozsan sporting a sharp new haircut. The new haircut had cropped look, featuring shaved sides with a fade and tapered back.
The buzz began days earlier when Alcaraz’s personal barber, Victor Martinez, posted online about his trip to Paris. Alcaraz stepped onto the clay with a close-cropped fade and tapered style, the speculation was confirmed. It turns out, the fresh look wasn’t just about style it was about comfort.
Alcaraz on getting new hairstyle
Though it’s unusual to switch up appearances mid-tournament, especially at a high-pressure event like the French Open, Alcaraz explained that he felt the timing was right and joked that his growing hair and beard left him no choice.
“He’s free, so I’m lucky he could come here to Paris and watch some of my matches,” Alcaraz said after his 6-1, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 win over Marozsan. “I just told him he has to bring the materials to cut my hair the way I need it.”
“Probably people aren’t used to seeing me getting a haircut between matches,” he said with a grin. “That’s why they were a bit surprised. But I think it’s something normal.”
Whats next for Carlos Alcaraz?
Alcaraz now looks ahead to his next match against Damir Dzumhur as he continues his campaign to defend his Roland Garros title. The second round victory was Alcaraz's 17th in 18 matches on clay this year as he looks to become the first man since compatriot Rafael Nadal in 2020 to retain the Roland Garros title.
