Ahilyanagar MLA Sangram Jagtap from Ajit Pawar's NCP has created a row over his alleged hate speech and communal remarks against the Muslim community.
Sangram Jagtap is in the news over taking a hardline communal stance, with leaders from his own party including Salim Sarang and MLC Idris Naikawadi, slamming him.
Speaking to the media on the row, MLC Idris Naikwadi, who is the chief of NCP-AP's minority cell of the state, said, "If you don't agree with the party's ideology, you should resign as an MLA."
Additionally, Vice President of NCP-AP Maharashtra, Sarang also strongly condemned the controversial statement allegedly made by MLA Jagtap, which was perceived as anti-Muslim. Sarang demanded strict action against MLA Jagtap from the party leadership.
Meanwhile, Ajit Pawar had called Jagtap to explain this. However, Sangram Jagtap did not attend the meeting, citing that he was busy in Ashadhi Wari and Ajit Pawar is aware of that.

The Muslim community in Ahilyanagar on Thursday had staged a protest against Jagtap by staging a protest at the District Collector’s Office. At this time, there was a verbal altercation between the marchers and the police at the gate of the District Collector’s Office over how many people would go to submit a statement to the District Collector. A few people from the delegation went to the District Collector and submitted a statement.
Meanwhile, in Ahilyanagar, several right-wing organisations held a support march to support Jagtap following the protest by the Muslim community and rebuke by his own party members, including Ajit Pawar.

Along with the hateful comment, recently, right-wing organizations hoisted the saffron flag at the disputed religious place in Jawkhed, which houses the Kanifnath temple in Ahilyanagar. Jagtap participated in it and extended his support.
